An update on RNA Doha’s second meeting in Qatar

The 2nd Branch meeting went well, an hour of good debate and ideas. The main topic of conversation was our Trafalgar Night which we will be hosting on 22nd October at a hotel yet to be decided (we have visited a couple and are currently in negotiations), this promises to be a good event which we hope to host annually, Shipmates from the Saudi Arabia Branch should be attending with hopefully others from around the Gulf States.

A few weeks ago HMS Kent visited Doha where members of the Committee were invited onboard for a cocktail party and tour of the ship with demonstration of an air attack in the Ops Room, a ships boarding demonstrated by the RM detachment and a fire exercise where a compartment was involved. Feedback from the crew was that they thoroughly enjoyed their time in Doha, which was quite the opposite to what they expected. (Thank you to the Assistant Defence Attachè at The Embassy).
