Area 7: AGM and evening mess dinner
On Saturday 28th February 2015 committee members and members of the area mustered at the Holiday inn in Cardiff, with the Famous Millennium stadium as a back drop.
The committee held the AGM where Michael Starkey was confirmed as Chairman following the crossing the bar of the previous Chairman.
The area then voted for a new Vice Chairman this position was filled by Rog Harris from Cardiff RNA, the meeting then voted to re-elect John Clarke from Monmouth as Area Secretary, the only other position that was up for debate was that of Welfare Officer this position was filled by Selwyn Davies from Merthyr Tydfil.
Following a buffet lunch members then mustered for the 1st quarterly meeting.
Further to the conclusion of the meeting shipmates dismissed for a wash and brush up, the shipmates then mustered for the first ever area mess dinner this was kicked off by musical entertainment from the local Tenovus sing for life choir.
The members then enjoyed a three course meal with wine, grace was read by S/M P Gower Chairman Rhondda, and a quick speech was given by David Owen Senior SSAFA caseworker for the Gwent area, following the area raffle the members then danced the night away to music supplied by a female artist.
All in all, a successful AGM and evening meal, enjoyed by the shipmates from No 7 Area.
