Huntingdon Branch: First charity stall of 2018

On Saturday 27th January 2018, shipmates Karl Webb and Pete Aston headed to the Tesco Superstore at Bar Hill, Cambridge, for the first charity stall of the year. Located in the foyer, we were able to rig up the table, Rum Tub, ensigns, and our new PR display boards.

The morning started well, albeit a little windy, so it was a welcome relief when shipmate Martin Girvan arrived with his partner, Janette Ground. Keen to support, they both joined Karl and Pete with their charity buckets.

Worried about the cold, Janette decided to model the RNA beanie hat. She must have liked it that much as Janette has decided to join the Branch as an Associate member, BZ Janette.

At the end of a long day, shipmates Karl Webb and Pete Aston de-rigged, the car was packed up and charity gear made ready for the second shift on Sunday.

Sadly, shipmate Bill Small was unable to attend the stall, so on Sunday morning, shipmate Karl Webb joined up with shipmate Graham Murray for day two.

Overall, the stall was a huge success, our thanks go out to the team at Tesco Bar Hill for allowing us the use of the foyer, and of course to the generosity of the people visiting the store who took time to stop and chat and to donate to the Branch.

For other Branches seeking to update their PR boards, as you can see in the picture below, we have a great set of PR boards which we bought from Go Displays, however, an added bonus is that Go Displays, manufacturers of the Banner Stands, will be providing us with a free Switch Banner. Visit their website for more details. We will look forward to using the banner in due course.
