Huntingdon & District RNA attend a Battle of Britain Service, 10 July 2017

On Monday 10th July 2017, shipmates from Huntingdon & District Branch attended a flag raising ceremony to commemorate the Battle of Britain.

Shipmates Karl Webb, Bill Small, Derrick Morgan and Mark Fearon attended the service, with Bill parading the Branch Standard.

The welcome was given by the Chairman of Huntingon District Council (HDC), Cllr Richard West. The RAF Ensign was then Blessed by the Reverend, Wing Commander Eddie Wynn.

The RAF ensign was then hoisted up the mast which stands in front of Castle Hill House, the wartime home of the Pathfinder Force.

The Last Post was then played by Lewis Bourne from RAF Wyton’s voluntary band.

Dipped Standards

On completion of the Last Post, speeches were given by Group Captain (Retired) Ron Saunders and the commanding officer of RAF Wyton, Wing Commander Phil Owen.

To draw the ceremony to a close, the Chair of HDC thanked all who attended.

The VIPs and guests were then invited into the Civic Suite for refreshments.
