RNA Conference 2018: Alternative accommodation arrangements

RNA members will know that this year’s annual conference will take place in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, near Dublin. Accommodation is running out fast, but alternative arrangements can be made.

Shipmate Penny Jarvis from Letchworth RNA has been working with Maureen from Just for Groups in order to arrange a week’s holiday which will also cover the National Conference. Shipmate Penny Jarvis said:

Letchworth Branch, and hopefully one from Kent, are doing one of the alternatives that may interest other branches if they knew more about it…

…We as a branch will be going to Dublin for a whole week and therefore making this as much a holiday as reunion and conference.

From Thursday to Thursday 7th to 14th June by coach.

At £689 per person sharing or £848 single room which includes bed and breakfast and the Gala Dinner. A further £100 per person will provide a daily evening meal (though our branch is not taking this up to be more flexible)

The Hotel is the Esplanade Hotel in Bray which is about 8 miles south of Dun Laoghaire. It also includes Tour escort, local pick-ups, return ferry crossing, excursions (Minimum 2) and being taken to and from conference. The rooms at the hotel look very good, and the hotel overlooks the beach.

All in all, we think this is a good deal but it would appear that other branches have not been in touch with Maureen about alternatives and as far as I know this trip is far from full.

Wanting to go to Ireland was why our branch did not attend Perth and we have been saving up for this through the branch for the past year…

…We as a branch have been trying to attend conference on a number of occasions over the past years.

Delegates are probably more likely to attend if they have supporting branch members with them and can treat it as much of a reunion, or holiday, as just conference.
