Royal visit at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice

Shipmate Paul Gower from the Type 21 Club (a member of the Confederation of Naval Associations (CONA)), took part in a Royal Visit to Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in September. The report published on the Type 21 Website stated that:

HRH The Earl of Wessex  visited Cornwall Hospice Care’s Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell to mark its 35th anniversary. During an hour long stay he met patients, members of staff and volunteers who work for the charity as well as Paul Gower from the Type 21 Club. Those presented to HRH shared their personal stories as part of a special project aimed at helping people understand what goes on in Cornwall’s adult hospices and this included a display of memorabilia from HMS Avenger collected over the years when the ship was still operational.
