St Neots & District Branch: Summer Events 2014
It has been a splendid sunny summer, one that has allowed us to introduce two new events this year along with the usual charity fund raising activities. We started the year off, as usual, with May Day at Eaton Socon. This kicked off our fund raising for good local causes.
June
In June we introduced a new event – a Vintage Tea Party and invited as our guests, widows and wives of former members. The event was held in Mike Milne’s garden and the weather was beautiful. With vintage china and tablecloths, sandwiches and cake, what more could we ask for. A few were unable to come to the June event so a smaller tea party was held in Kati Page’s garden in August. We hope to arrange a similar event in 2015 to enable those who cannot attend branch meetings to have an opportunity to meet fellow shipmates.

July
At the end of June, the Band of the Royal Signals, and the Chicksands Military Wives Choir entertained at the Priory Centre, followed by Armed Forces Day with the town on Regatta Meadow. The following weekend we attended Paxfest in Little Paxton and the Kimbolton Show.

August
In August, we made our regular visits to Ramsey 40s weekend and the Little Gransden Air Show. Amongst the aircraft on show were the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and the Canadian Warplane Heritage’s Avro Lancasters along with the Avro Vulcan.

To complete the summer we got together for another new event and returned to Mike’s garden for a BBQ. Once again the sun shone and L R Clayton Ltd of Potton served us a splendid feast, Mike’s daughter and son-in-law manned the bar and a great time was had by all.
