An extremely windy start to the day, but being positioned between Huntingdon Community Radio and the Scouts, the gazebo was secured (for sea) with lashings across each of the stalls. This year, the Branch has introduced a novel game for the children (and a few adults), S/M Pete Aston had created a classic version of Battleships.

With the weather picking up, and the wind dying down, shipmates waited for the gala to begin.

Once suited and booted, S/M Karl Webb was interviewed live on Huntingdon Community Radio (the Branch stall being alongside HCR’s outside broadcast van), Karl gave details of the RNA, our aims, and the support the Branch provides locally.

With the gala officially opened, the Mayor of Huntingdon, Councillor Bill Hensley took time to have his photograph taken with Karl and Pete.

During the day, shipmates Hilary Meers-Webb, Graham Murray and Becky Murray visited the stall to see how Karl and Pete were doing. Other visitors included members of the Royal British Legion, Royal Air Force Association, former Naval Services personnel, and of course residents and visitors from around the Huntingdon area.

Huntingdon Gala is always a great place for the Branch to speak with people from the area, and to hand out some membership forms for those ex-Naval Service visitors.
